Waste

While waste is not the greatest source of greenhouse gas emissions or carbon, it is something that we can all manage individually and as households. Our climate survey showed that residents are keen to do more to cut down on waste. 

The waste hierarchy

 The waste hierarchy gives priority to preventing waste in the first place. When waste is created, it is better to reuse it, or if it cannot be reused then recycled.

Reduce

You can reduce the amount you buy - and waste - by choosing different products and buying only what you need.

Reuse

Many of the things we throw away haven’t always reached the end of their useful life. Something that you don’t want any more can still be used by someone else.

Recycle

Taking care of how you dispose of what you cannot reuse will help protect the earth's resources.
