Reuse
Many items you no longer need don't need to be thrown away or recycled - they can be reused. Here are some ways that you can give your item a new life.
Upcycle
There are some great ideas on how you can give your old item a completely new life - from using an old pair of wellies as a planter, to making old clothes into a patchwork quilt. And old furniture can become fashionably new with imaginative modifications or a coat of paint.
Why not get creative and see what you can make - or give your item to someone else who can upcycle it into something new.

Sell pre-loved goods
If your items are good quality why not turn them into cash? There are lots of ways to do this.
- Sell your unwanted items online at places like ebay or vinted.
- Take your items to car boot sales.
- Some high street shops will buy pre-used goods.
Donate to a charity shop
Donating to charities are a great way to pass on your unwanted items and by doing so you're helping them raise valuable funds.
Take your goods to a nearby charity shop, fill charity collection bags that are pushed through your door, or use a clothes bank - often found at supermarkets or local car parks.
Some charities will take unwanted furniture and electrical items. Give them a call and find out what they take - but please, never leave goods unattended outside.
